(The state key lab of Arid Agroecology Lanzhou University)
Abstract¡¡By means of GIS
method,the digital elevation model(DEM)is established,the flow direction,flow
accumulation,sub-catchment boundaries and stream network spatial distribution are
studied.Based on raster system and Rasterized Runoff Coefficient Method (RRCM),the spatial
distribution of annual average runoff is modeled.Meanwhile, the runoff in the simulated
natural catchments is also simulated with the precipitation of 10,20,30,40,50 and 60mm.The
results indicate that not only the spatial distribution of large stream network can be
simulated but also the small water path by DEM and the runoff in each sub-catchment can be
quickly calculated by RRCH.It is important in planning the rain-harvesting engineering in
semi-arid area.

(Tsinghua University)
Abstract¡¡Based on the theory of soil water
dynamics, micrometeorology and energy balance, a model of water and heat transfer in the
Soil-Plant-Atmosphere Continuum (SPAC) is established. The numerical simulation is
realized by using implicit finite difference discretization and iteration method with an
automatically changing time step. Based on the data collected from the Xinjiang Yakand
River Ground Water Balance Station the model is tested. The result of evapotranspiration,
water and heat condition during winter wheat growing period from greening to mature is
analyzed and discussed. It shows that this model can simulate the process of water and
heat transfer in the soil and canopy and the water consumption in the field, which is very
important for soil moisture prediction and evapotranspiration research in agriculture.

(The University of Leeds, Leeds, UK)
Abstract¡¡An explanation shows that some
predictions of durability of mortar cover by using behavior of concrete cover are not
reliable. A long-term experimental study with more than 100 ferro-cement specimen
subjected to a joint action of load-NaCl or acidic solution has been performed. laboratory
experimental results are integrated with field observations to demonstrate that good
durability of welded mesh ferro-cement can be obtained provided that quality of mortar
cover with a thickness of 5mm is ensured.

(Hohai University)
Abstract¡¡In this paper, a new method
called Four-Freedom Complete Method for solving the seepage-stress coupled problem in the
fissured rock masses is presented. In this method, not only the change of fissure
permeability with stress is considered, but also seepage pressure and displacement are
taken as unknown variables simultaneously. The new method can overcome the shortcomings of
the ordinary method in whioch two fields are alternately iterated, and make the coupled
problem become more simple.
